They’re scratched, they’re dirty, and they’re stretched out to the point where they don’t even stay on your face. If you know exactly what I’m talking about, you are probably the not-so proud owner of a very old, worn out pair of eyeglasses. We all tell ourselves that we’ll take care of them, that we’ll put them safely back in their case every time we take them off; however, we’re busy college kids that just don’t seem to have the time to do anything right. Fortunately, there is hope for people like us.
"Because everyone wants to feel incredible."
In 2010, a group of students went on a backpacking trip. During this trip one of them lost his glasses. The price of getting new ones was so ridiculous that he went an entire semester without them. After this, they realized there was a problem that was in dire need of a solution. So they started a business by the name of Warby Parker.
How It Works:
You visit their website at www.warbyparker.com and select five frames that you like. The kind people at Warby Parker will ship these frames to you for free for five days. This way, you can try them on and see which ones you like without leaving the comfort of your home. Decide which ones you like the best, purchase them, and then ship all five frames back to Warby Parker. Then, go online and send them a digital copy of your perscription, and they’ll be at your doorstep in no time! Did I mention all glasses are only $95?
When I spoke to Lauren Todd, a senior advisor at the Warby Parker location in Austin, Texas she explained, “Warby Parker eyewear is the least expensive option compared to your eye doctor. Our price includes frame, lenses, scratch resistent coating, and a year long scratch warranty on the lenses. If you’re paying for your own stuff as a college student, expensive glasses are definitely a burden. You need your sight, and deserve eye health. At Warby Parker that is our main goal.”
