In trying to compete with Snapchat, Instagram introduced "stories," for users to share content on their accounts for 24 hours at a time. Now with the latest advancement in social media, Instagram is introducing Instagram TV. When you first open up the app you will see an entirely new layout. In the top right-hand corner, you will see an orange TV icon, your first step to Instagram television. Instagram designed this feature with every detail in mind. As you first click the app you will see static just like a real television!
There are different categories that organize which videos you watch. The categories include suggested videos based on your likes and accounts you follow. There also is a popular section, which shows the most popular Instagram videos at the moment, like Kim Kardashians' Beauty Pop Up shop, or glimpse into Selena Gomez’s new twisted video “a love story.” There is also a "continue watching tab" so you can go to recent videos you may not have had the time to finish watching at that moment.
Instagram TV also has channels like on television but instead of being hosted by networks they are hosted by Instagram account holders. The best part is that everyone has the opportunity to create his or her own TV channel. You can simply make videos through the app or on the web. You now can create an entire channel in a matter of minutes!
Instagram TV allows you to share your favorite videos with friends by sending it through DM’s or voice your opinion to the world by commenting and liking.
With this new platform we see how social media is changing and the massive transformation Instagram has undergone over the years. We are excited to see what is next for the innovative company, maybe exclusive Instagram shows?
Time will tell but for now, we will sit back, relax and enjoy Instagram TV.
