I spent 18 years of my life hating water (& probably being dehydrated) because I always considered it ‘boring.’ I had a raging love for every kind of juice, Gatorade, and Capri Sun that existed. Before I moved away to college was when I became interested in health, fitness, and what the body actually needs. When I realized how valuable water is, I figured I should find a way to learn to love it. The typical lemon wedge in my water glass became redundant and I quickly became disinterested. During my freshman year, I went to visit my boyfriend, at the time, at his fancy college where “elixirs” were offered in the cafeteria. They sounded like some sort of magic potion, and after giving it a try, I realized it was magical! Who knew that soaking a bunch of fruits and vegetables in water could make a girl so happy!?
I’ve included my favorite elixir combinations below! I asked my roommates to save any jars they had, and I used those to store my different elixirs so I could have a few options for the week!
Place the fruit at the bottom of your jar or container, and feel free to mash them a little bit with a fork, just to get a little bit of the juice out ahead of time. Use as much or as little fruit as you would like. Add water, and let sit over night!
