Middle part, side part, a zigzag part? Why does it even matter how I part my hair?
Well for starters, changing your part is one of the easiest ways to freshen up your look. However, there is more to the art of parting hair than you think. Each face shape, whether square, oval, or heart-shaped, has a part that flatters it the most. To truly rock your hair with confidence, it’s important to know which hair part works best for you.
If you had told me a couple of years ago that one day it would be cool to have tears in your shirt, I would have thought you were crazy. Yet here we are! It is Fall 2016 and hole-y T-shirts are all the rage. Whether it’s a loose V-neck or an old graphic, all different types of tees are making a statement. This trend can be dressed up with sleek leather leggings and suede booties or brought to a more casual level with a pair of boyfriend jeans and Birkenstocks. Funny thing is, high-end designers have been coming out with their own versions of this trend at prices higher than most shirts without holes. This has caught special attention from the media as well as older generations. I can just hear my dad now saying; “You paid how much money for jeans with rips in them?”
So why is it that we are so addicted to this odd trend? Probably because it’s undeniably really cool. Celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Kristen Stewart have all been seen wearing them on many occasions. This trend takes street style to a whole other level. It is both edgy but also fascinating as yet another 90s grudge trend returns in stores.
One of the greatest supporters of this trend is Kanye West. His NYFW Yeezy line was full of sweaters and athletic wear with holes throughput the garments. His models marched out on the runway wearing minimal designs. Most of the garments were plain but used the rips/holes as the details. This gave his runway show a minimalist street style, very New York inspired.
P.S. Stay tuned for a DIY Yeezy shirt tutorial
Going to school in north Florida essentially means that there are no signs of seasons for at least a few months after the fall semester begins. No cold air and no colorful leaves until about mid-January when you’re not feeling so “fall” anymore. It’s easy to stay in an endless summer slump, but here are just a few of the many things that you can do to get you in that fall/festive mood:
1. Football Fantasy
An obvious Saturday choice, whether you watch the game on TV or cheer on the Noles at Doak. This Saturday tradition is still going strong. You'll be happy it's a cool November day when the sun is blazing down on you for hours at a time.
2. Cozy Coffee Shops
There is honestly no greater feeling than taking a couple of hours on a Saturday or Sunday to relax in a coffee shop. With some of the trendiest coffee shops right at our fingertips here in Tallahassee, it’s incredibly convenient to do. Grab your favorite book, listen to some great tunes and sip on a drink of your choice (extra points if you choose a Pumpkin Spice Latte). Plus, you can up your Insta aesthetic with a solid coffee photo.
If you’re ever feeling a little confined in your apartment or dorm, take a trip somewhere new for the day. Thomasville is such a cool spot to hang out and there are many amazing stores and restaurants to try (Definitely stop at Grassroots for a yummy lunch and/or latte). The tiny streets and quiet feel of the town bring about that seasonal feel.
4. Head to the pumpkin patch.
You are NEVER too old for the pumpkin patch. And you are never too old to carve a pumpkin with your best pals. That being said, there are so many different places to get a good pumpkin in Tallahassee, believe it or not. Grab one and become feel like an instant Pumpkin Picasso (after a good few hours of hard work and carving).
5. Go to the Theatre
This is seriously one of the best ways to get into the spirit of fall after Halloween time. There’s always a good horror movie that gets released at this time that may give you a laugh…or a good scare. You can even stay in the comfort of your home and watch classics like Scream with endless amounts of candy and treats.
