Within this past semester alone, my body has been plagued by several viral diseases, whether it be a cold, the flu, etc. (and it’s been what, like four weeks?). Personally, I find it hard to stay motivated when I’m riding a steady stream of sickness and debating whether rolling out of bed for class is going to benefit me more than being fluffed up between my duvet and blankets with a cup of tea and Shameless by my side. However, no matter how terrible I’m feeling, on the days where I do will myself out of bed, I find that I feel happier and more motivated once my feet are on the floor. There are a lot of small, seemingly insignificant things we can do that add up in the equation of making our days exponentially more productive. Here are my tips:
Happy studies and stay healthy!
Many of us strive to be fit and there is no doubt that being in your best shape is one of the greatest feelings. BUT, if you’re like me, going to the gym is the last thing you want to do. And you probably complain about it. A lot. Yes, you know the feeling afterwards is great and all, but even the thought of going is daunting. You wish, 24/7, that watching Netflix and walking up to the register at Chick-fil- A counted as exercise. Trust me, I feel you.
I am definitely a certifiable ‘lazy girl’, but I still need a good work out to stay healthy. I’ve compiled some tips on how to get quality exercise for even the laziest of people. Maybe these will make going to the gym enjoyable for my fellow lazy girls! (or at least a little less horrible.)
-Lazy or Just Bored?
- Cardio made easier.
The treadmill is a lazy girl’s biggest enemy. Instead of running as your cardio, try the elliptical! You will still sweat and get that heartbeat up, but this is takes a load off your joints and will keep you from getting too worn out.
- Get down!
- It’s the Little Things That Count.
Did you know you could amplify your results without even going to the gym?? Add to your workout by doing little things in your daily life. For example, calf raises while you brush your teeth or focusing on keeping your abs tight while you drive can strengthen your body over time.
- Get Toned with Some Tunes!
o “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood
o “Closer” by Chainsmokers (I know, super basic. But still, super motivating, I promise.)
o “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + the Machine
o “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira
o “American Boy” by Estelle feat. Kanye West
o “Say It” by Flume feat. Tove Lo
o “Trophies” by Drake
- We’re All in This Together!
(s/o to the High School Musical fans) Group exercise classes are also an effective way to motivate the inner lazy girl in you. Being around a crowd of people can encourage you to try harder and also, make things more exciting. You could even bring your friends and you’d barely notice you’re working out!
So, it’s getting towards the end of January and as the resolution hype is dying down, all of us lazy girls are extremely tempted to slack off and “get back on it tomorrow.” But when these thoughts creep into your mind, think of these tips to keep yourself motivated and dread the gym a little less!
The New Year is upon us, which may mean (for some) a new look or even a new wardrobe. My 2017 resolution is to start mixing pieces I already own for new, fun outfits. There’s nothing more timeless than neutral colors and I thought this was a great way to put a feminine twist on an edgier trend. I’m loving over-the- knee boots, just like many others, so I loved the look of wearing more of a Yeezy-inspired outfit with my girly-chic boots.
From the Kardashians to famous bloggers, everyone has been rocking these types of jackets. Oversized jackets, in general, are all the rage lately. They’re reminiscent of past Yeezy seasons, but this one is easy to get your hands on. You can even check out thrift stores for other unique army-style coats. I love this one from Urban Outfitters because it’s light and can be worn year-round!

Believe it or not, the “dress” I’m wearing is actually a shirt from the men’s section at Urban Outfitters. It fits even better than an actual t-shirt dress would from the women’s section and it is a whole lot cheaper (#lifehack). Plus, Urban Outfitters offers them in a variety of colors—some are tie-dyed, others have holes in them. You’re bound to find one you love.

I bought these boots at Nordstrom Rack and I am IN LOVE. It took me a bit to find the perfect over-the- knee boots because they all fit completely differently. These ones fit to my legs in all the right places. I’m a little late on the bandwagon— but better late than never, I’d say!

Are you a fan of natural, organic, and all around good food? If you said yes, we share that in common. I
love having the option to go to a store that prides themselves on providing wholesome and healthy food
that your average grocery store does not offer. As a college student, it is not exactly in the budget to go
to these specialty grocery stores on a regular basis, since they all tend to be more expensive. That is why
when I discovered Lucky’s Market a few weeks ago I was blown away. At Lucky’s they believe that good
food shouldn’t be a luxury, it should be a right. They are striving to morph our generation into having
healthier eating habits, starting with making the choices more available to everyone.
I have thought long and hard narrowing down my three favorite reasons why I will shop at Lucky's Market from now on. They are as following:
But it doesn’t stop there! Lucky's does an amazing job creating an enjoyable, upbeat atmosphere to
shop in. There is something for everyone at Lucky's whether your vegetarian, vegan, meat-lover, or
anything in between. Their staff really does an amazing job in all aspects. I highly recommend giving
Lucky's Market a visit!
Hi friends! I'm going to get into the habbit of sharing cute outfits I see around Tallahassee- you guys have the BEST looks. If I run up to you asking for a picture, know that you look superfly and I'm jealous that you had it in you to wear something other than yoga pants...cause there's a 98% chance I'll be in mine.
Moving towards the inauguration, everyone seems to be a bit high strung and opinions are flying around, but one thing we can all agree on is that Malia Obama, President Barack’s eldest daughter, has definitely had some major fashion moments during her time living in the White House. Let’s take a look at her style over the years and see some of her best, wearable looks!
Lastly, is Malia’s showstopper at the State Dinner – not necessarily a wearable look, but nonetheless one of her bests. Although this fabulous dress caused much controversy in the media, the $20,000 Naeem Khan stunner was definitely a hit. The strapless, faille dress with gold embellishments is elegant and timeless. The silhouette of the gown accents her waist and the light beige color is perfect for her skin tone!
Malia Obama proved that a President’s daughter doesn’t have to be the perfect, pinned up figure we all imagine. She served youthful, chic looks that any of us could wear, and she did it with the elegance and confidence that she has always conveyed! I don’t know about you, but I’ll definitely miss her fashion moments as the President’s daughter!
Some people are creatures of habit that don’t adapt well to change. This often shines through in their beauty regiment by remaining loyal to one or two brands they’ve found to work for them – resulting in all their makeup coming from these limited companies. However, some of us are slaves to trying new products and get exhilarated by testing new lipstick shades on the back of our hand, or ordering a product online that’s just been released.
For the past couple months, I have had my eyes on products from the up and coming beauty and skincare line, Glossier. Based out of New York City, this brand is still in its honeymoon phase, which explains the boutique aspect of their products availability. As quickly as they release items on the website, they are just as quickly scooped up and out of stock. As this has been the case for me the past few times I have tried to place an order, I made sure that this time I would be successful. After subscribing to all of their social media accounts, signing up for email updates when products were back on the market, and keeping a close eye on the site itself, I finally filled my shopping cart with the couple essential products I wanted to test.
A little background on Glossier for those of you who may not be familiar: a million years ago when we were all slaves to The Hills, there was a character named Emily Weiss that worked at Teen Vogue NYC. We all hated her for snubbing Whitney any chance she got (or at least I did). A couple years after the show ended, I got the chance to meet Emily at an event for Teen Vogue and I realized that my bias against her couldn’t be more distant from whom she actually was. After listening to her speak about her love of beauty, lifestyle brands, and interest in business, it was immediately apparent to me that she was a total girl boss visionary and I wanted to be her best friend. From then on, I followed all her endeavors. She had started a website called Into The Gloss, which profiles new beauty trends, has interviews with celebrities and creators of all types. Shortly after this website took off, a new project surfaced for Emily: Glossier.
This line of products was something she was able to build from the ground up based around distinctive things she loves. The skincare line is all about putting your skin first in your beauty regiment as your foundation with simple and effective cleansers, moisturizing options and healthy masks. The makeup options are unpretentious, high quality, and made for the millennial girl on the go; additionally none of the products made by Glossier are tested on animals, which says a lot about a brands ethics in an industry driven by quick production at any physical expense. The overall brand identity resonates with a very distinct style of our generation. They are spunky, clean, and effortless. This rings true in every facet of their being – the website, the packaging, the social media curation, and customer service. Glossier also connects with the millennial generation in their price range. All of their products are accessible to you for around $30 or less, and they have great combination sets; currently on the market are Phase 1 & Phase 2.
When I first try a new line of cosmetics or skincare, I like to purchase their most well-known and popular products. I’ve found this to be very successful over the years as these products are usually an accurate reflection on the brand overall, and the easiest products to find reviews on. As far as Glossier goes, their most admired options are the ‘milky jelly cleanser’ and the ‘balm dotcom’ universal skin salve. As someone who likes to switch around skincare regiments once every couple months, the cleanser was something I could not wait to try. For the balm dotcom, I splurged and got myself the rose scented pink tint, being a lover of all things floral.
Once I checked out, all I could do was sit and wait for the products to come my way. To my surprise, they were at my doorstep in 2 days – already a reason to become a returning customer in my mind. Normally, I wouldn’t openly admit how geekily excited I was to get this box, but it truly was an experience, which was obviously an intentional choice on Glossier’s part. The packaging is size appropriate and easy to open, this is not some sort of tape maze that will leave you with regrets of even purchasing anything (we’ve all been there). Their brands color is this lovely shade of baby pink which envelopes their packaging. Inside the box I found my purchases tucked away in their signature pink bubble wrap zip locks, a great carrying case for your products especially in travel times. You also receive a tester packet of another product; mine was their priming moisturizer, along with a double-sided graphic poster, and a fun pack of stickers. I would be lying if I said I didn’t already put all of them on my MacBook case. Overall, even just the process of opening the box was an occasion that made me even more pumped to finally test it all out.
Product review: ‘milky jelly cleanser’
This cleanser is a very unique find on the market because you can use it on dry or wet skin. It is recommended to use it on dry skin at night to remove your makeup from a long day, and start the morning off using it at the sink or in the shower. After doing both – I can genuinely say a face wash has never made my skin feel cleaner after almost 10 years of being dedicated to my skincare. It left my face feeling stripped of anything dirty without leaving me dry or patchy. While my skin is combination, I believe this would work great with oily or dry skin as well. A major aim of Glossier is to be a line of products that will work on everyone. After using the recommended 1 ½ pumps, I found it to be very flowery and also sterile smelling. It did not foam, and for anyone who is not a researcher of products; that’s a good thing. The presence of foaming in any beauty products usually mean they contain sulfates which are no good for anyone. My skin felt soft and bright and I can’t wait to keep using it consistently to see further results.
Product review: ‘rose balm dotcom’
I would highly recommend this product to anyone out there that loves moisturizing without feeling greased up. The fact that this is petroleum based really gives it a smooth, silky texture that makes application and wear completely enjoyable. It also has a long lasting effect that left my lips and cheekbones glistening for hours after application. Because it is a ‘universal skin salve’ there is no process of having to cleanse your hands after use because you can literally put it anywhere. The bottle itself states, “use it on lips, on cuticles, on elbows, on your friend… anywhere that needs some love”. I don’t know about you, but I love multipurpose items and that’s exactly what you can expect from balm dotcom.
Although I may be an Emily Weiss fangirl, I’m very objective when it comes to the products I use on my face and in my hair. I’m a firm believer in mix & matching any product from any brand to create a regiment that is tailored to all your needs. After the use of these 2 products, and hopefully ALL of them in the near future, Glossier is everything that it claims to be and more. For the price, the customer experience, and the exclusivity factor of the brand, they truly allow the person purchasing to enjoy being a member of the Glossier girl gang.

Although it's wintertime is in full swing, it's HOT - and the trends are even hotter! In case you’ve spent this last week pummeled by syllibi and have lost sight of the outside world, have no fear. Here is your quick look at what is important!
1. High Boots
I’m talking about the boots that go all the way to your thigh! These boots are taking the fashion world by storm, coming in all colors, all sizes, and the option for flats or boots. The cool thing about these boots is you can dress them up, or where them casual. They work perfectly with a pair of high wasted shorts or they with a beautiful dress for a holiday party. They are also worth the investment because they are perfect for any climate. You can get extra warmth in the colder regions by pairing them with a pair of tights, or in the warmer regions you can bare it all. Either way, these are the shoes of the season.
2. S'well Bottles
These bottles are by far one of the investments I’ve ever made! Swell is taking the world by storm and making it very trendy to drink water. The bottles are made of stainless steel, are non-toxic, and come in three different sizes. Amazingly, S'Well bottles keep your water cold for 24 hours or hot for 12! The greatest part about S'Well? The bottles come in a punch of different styles and designs. That’s right, you
can custom design your bottle to match your outfit PERFECTLY. In the winter seasons, it’s definitely best to invest in one of these bottles. Whether you want to keep your hot cocoa warm or want a cold water after killing that New Year’s work out resolution, this is the best idea for you.
Chokers used to be a thing of a 90’s, but they slowly started to make their way to the fashion scene again this past summer. Why is this still trending if they made their comeback in the summer? Because chokers work well in EVERY SEASON. Winter sweaters make it difficult to rock those awesome layered accessories we all love, so chokers make a good replacement to that fashion statement. With a big sweater or sweatshirt, you can never go wrong with a big choker. The awesome thing about chokers is that you can wear them with whatever type of outfit you desire. Dress it down, or dress it up. Chokers always work.
