Many of us strive to be fit and there is no doubt that being in your best shape is one of the greatest feelings. BUT, if you’re like me, going to the gym is the last thing you want to do. And you probably complain about it. A lot. Yes, you know the feeling afterwards is great and all, but even the thought of going is daunting. You wish, 24/7, that watching Netflix and walking up to the register at Chick-fil- A counted as exercise. Trust me, I feel you.
I am definitely a certifiable ‘lazy girl’, but I still need a good work out to stay healthy. I’ve compiled some tips on how to get quality exercise for even the laziest of people. Maybe these will make going to the gym enjoyable for my fellow lazy girls! (or at least a little less horrible.)
-Lazy or Just Bored?
- Cardio made easier.
The treadmill is a lazy girl’s biggest enemy. Instead of running as your cardio, try the elliptical! You will still sweat and get that heartbeat up, but this is takes a load off your joints and will keep you from getting too worn out.
- Get down!
- It’s the Little Things That Count.
Did you know you could amplify your results without even going to the gym?? Add to your workout by doing little things in your daily life. For example, calf raises while you brush your teeth or focusing on keeping your abs tight while you drive can strengthen your body over time.
- Get Toned with Some Tunes!
o “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood
o “Closer” by Chainsmokers (I know, super basic. But still, super motivating, I promise.)
o “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + the Machine
o “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira
o “American Boy” by Estelle feat. Kanye West
o “Say It” by Flume feat. Tove Lo
o “Trophies” by Drake
- We’re All in This Together!
(s/o to the High School Musical fans) Group exercise classes are also an effective way to motivate the inner lazy girl in you. Being around a crowd of people can encourage you to try harder and also, make things more exciting. You could even bring your friends and you’d barely notice you’re working out!
So, it’s getting towards the end of January and as the resolution hype is dying down, all of us lazy girls are extremely tempted to slack off and “get back on it tomorrow.” But when these thoughts creep into your mind, think of these tips to keep yourself motivated and dread the gym a little less!
